Origin of Name
In the late 18th and early 19th century, the newly established United States was encountering westward expansion. The early settlements on the western side of the Appalachian Mountain range had a need for manufactured goods. This need was met by teamsters who would move freight from the eastern seaboard ports on cargo wagons pulled by oxen teams.
The trails through the mountain passes were primitive and it was common to encounter flooded streams, fallen logs, broken axles and all manner of obstacles. It became a matter of pride for the teamster to deliver his cargo despite such obstacles. A tradition evolved that when the cargo was delivered, the teamster noted his success by placing a bell on the oxen yoke. Some teamsters made several such trips and had racks of bells. If assistance was required, the tradition called for the driver to give the rack of bells to whoever had helped.
From this tradition came the colloquial phrase, "I'll be there with bells on." That is, regardless of the obstacles encountered, you can count on me delivering as promised.
You can count on Belzon delivering as promised.
